Dancing in the street part 4 - from further afield

So we come to the final set of pictures from the St Albans Festival of Folk. Most of the performers taking part were British and as a result most of the folk dancing was Morris dancing of one form or another, which seems to be the predominant style of folk dancing in the UK, or England at least.

However, there was one group of dancers from further afield, and they very nearly stole the show.

This group of young men and women travelled over from the Hungarian city of Nyíregyháza, which happens to be a twin town of St Albans, in order to perform some of their traditional dances at the Folk Festival.

Very different from the other styles of folk dancing at the festival, and it seemed to impress the watching crowds who greeted each performance with some rapturous applause.

I'm not sure that my pictures really capture the sheer energy of the dancers. The best effort is probably below, taken as the couples span each other around pretty fast (and requiring the obligatory long exposure).
